Enhance Your Security Posture with Microsoft Azure Native Tools and Tanium
When it comes to securing your business, visibility into your company’s devices is key. As we so often say, you can’t protect what you can’t see. What’s more, visibility into your devices needs to be accurate and current – your IT security and operations teams can’t protect your environment if they’re working from data that’s hours (or days or weeks) old. To properly collaborate and safeguard against today’s cyber threats, your IT security and operations teams need complete and real-time visibility into your devices.
A key metric with visibility is how many of your machines are known and managed, whether in the data center, at remote locations, or in the cloud. As I learned recently from one of our manufacturing customers, the first action that their IT teams take when acquiring a new company is to install Tanium on every machine, so they can see everything and update any non-compliant devices. That’s how important visibility is. The customer needs it before conducting any other onboarding actions.
When looking at the cloud, an environment where the expectation is that everything is automated from virtual machines to applications, every deployment in the cloud can be automatically configured and deployed. Getting visibility to your machines is no different.
Tanium supports Microsoft Azure VM Extensions
Last October, Tanium launched support for Microsoft Azure VM Extensions, so you can now ensure that every virtual machine (“VM”) you deploy in Microsoft Azure has the Tanium client installed at the start. You can now use all standard Azure management tools to ensure every Microsoft Azure VM or VM scale set is protected at launch. No longer will you need to look at your cloud environment and wonder if everything can be seen and managed because it will be part of your standard machine deployment framework.
Tanium gives your Microsoft Azure virtual machines:
Improved security posture
Tanium centralizes management to significantly reduce the attack surface and improve your overall security posture for Azure environments by ensuring compliance with your policies.
Enhanced visibility and control
You can see a unified view of all Microsoft Azure virtual machines from within the Tanium console to gain comprehensive visibility into the health, configuration, and security of your VMs, so you can make informed decisions and ensure compliance.
Simplified workflows
VM extensions simplify the deployment and management of the Tanium agent through native Microsoft Azure tools (e.g., Azure Command-Line Interface, Azure PowerShell, ARM templates, and Microsoft Azure Portal), eliminating installation scripts and saving you time and resources.
Streamlined patch management
Tanium’s patch management capabilities can be leveraged to automate patch deployment across Microsoft Azure VMs to ensure timely patching and reduce the risk of security vulnerabilities.
Reduced costs
The automation capabilities of this integration with Tanium can lead to reduced operational costs associated with managing endpoint security for Microsoft Azure VMs.
If you’re looking at your cloud environment and have virtual machines that you don’t have visibility into or don’t know if they meet your business compliance objectives, look to Tanium to give you real-time visibility across your entire environment.
