Introducing semiannual release
Starting in 2024, Tanium will implement a semiannual release process to deliver updates to on-premises customers, aligning with the existing process for cloud customers.
Components of the release
The semiannual release will include updates for the Tanium platform, Tanium server, Tanium client, and various modules, all coordinated as a bundle.
- Updates to server, client, modules released twice each year
- Security and bug fixes released as needed
- Save time by batching releases into fewer change controls
- Extra quality testing for critical and air-gapped on-premises environments
Testing and quality assurance
The new process emphasizes rigorous testing, with additional QA checks and validations to ensure high-quality, secure updates for on-premises customers.
Maintenance releases
Tanium will also provide monthly maintenance releases for security and bug fixes, ensuring no new functionality changes to maintain stability.
Air-Gap environments
The semiannual release process accommodates air-gap environments by providing a bundled experience that can be securely transferred to isolated networks.
Communication and documentation
Tanium has improved communication and documentation for the semiannual release, including email notifications, community articles, and detailed release notes.
