Dennis Knight, End User Computing Manager, Canterbury Christ Church University
Universities face a lot of challenges in the modern world. They hold a lot of data, and the education system is a highly sought after, a vulnerable ecosystem.
Alex Goffe, Director of Campus Technology Services, University of Manchester
Because of the amount of research or teaching that the university does. It’s high value. But HE in the UK, certainly there’s loads of sharing of good ideas and good practice amongst the IT community where universities have gone. This is really good. This has really been beneficial, really valuable to us. And we’ve seen that with Tanium.
Karan Singh, Head of Cybersecurity, University of Arts London
Having visibility is the key. And that’s where Tanium actually helped us, getting unmanageable devices to be seen on the network and then creating a strategy how we’re going to deal with those unmanageable devices and creating policies and processes around it.
Chris Howarth, Technical Information Security Manager, University of Salford
We’re using Tanium predominantly for vulnerability management and to give us an overview of the state of our assets. We have an integration with Tanium and Microsoft Sentinel. The integration allows for automation of a lot of our processes.
PJ Hemmaway, CIO, University of Manchester
Tanium, Microsoft and ServiceNow as strategic partners. ServiceNow are helping us with our new configuration management database. Tanium’s going to be populating that significantly with information. And obviously we’ve got tools from Microsoft as well.
Chris Howarth
When there’s collaboration between vendors, it improves the ability to actually improve not just one service, but several services.
Dennis Knight
One of the things we were trying to do was to understand how many vulnerabilities that we had on our estate. It was a shock to us that when we first installed the Tanium client, we had around 2 million CVEs outstanding. Within the first week we managed to bring it down to about a million, and within the second week we managed to bring it down to around 500,000. It’s a continuing battle. The trend is up, and we fight it down and it comes back up and Tanium has done a phenomenal job.
Karan Singh
The support team from Tanium has been great, right from the POC to the onboarding. We wouldn’t have been where we are without the support of Tanium staff.
Chris Howarth
Previously we didn’t have a great view of our estate. We had assets in silos where each school looks after their own equipment. We’re training, we centralise everything.
Alex Goffe
The ability to just see all this information in a single application is just really powerful.
Karan Singh
It’s making the university much more secure.
PJ Hemmaway
For me, I know something will happen. I don’t know what scale it will be, and it’s my job to make sure that we’re protected as best we can be. And the way to do that is partnering with companies like Tanium.
