What's New in Tanium Asset – Tanium Tech Talks #112

Module Deep Dive

This Tech Talk episode explores the exciting new enhancements in Tanium Asset, which is designed to collect CMDB-centric data, primarily for integrations with ServiceNow and Flexera, to ensure that even offline endpoints have their data stored and formatted in a Common Service Data Model (CSDM)-compliant way. Many Tanium customers depend on it for accurate and current hardware and software asset data.

Host Ashley McGlone is joined by Roland Diaz, the technical product manager for the Tanium Asset Discovery and Inventory solution, to guide us through the latest improvements.

Key Tanium Asset updates

  • We added a Used/Unused field in the Software Inventory & Usage (SIU) module to provide a quick overview of whether an application has been used within the last 90 days, eliminating the need for complex queries.
  • The latest version of Asset includes detailed application version histories, allowing you to see when the software was installed, upgraded, or removed.
  • Tanium Asset now leverages the Tanium Data Service (TDS) for continuous data collection, significantly improving the speed and accuracy of data retrieval. This enhancement ensures near real-time data availability, making it easier for operations managers to make informed decisions.

The best news? These features are already available for our cloud customers, and on-premises customers can expect these updates in the semi-annual release for fall 2024.
