Why Tanium is a Great Place to Work

In celebration of With Certification Nation Day, here is a look at what makes Tanium a special place to work – and why our company culture is key to our success

Our Culture

A great work environment isn’t something you can build overnight. It requires careful planning, daily execution, and companywide commitment. While it takes work to achieve a winning culture, it’s one of the best investments a company can make. After all, workplace culture is a foundational component for critical areas like talent acquisition, employee retention, innovation, and growth. When you take care of your people, everything else falls into place.

Considering this, maintaining a stellar work environment is one of Tanium’s top priorities. As proof of those efforts, Tanium consistently appears on multiple Great Place to Work lists including 2024, where we were named a leading place to work in France and in the U.K.

So, with Great Place to Work’s annual Certification Nation Day approaching on October 16, let’s take a closer look at Tanium’s culture and why the company consistently ranks among the best global workplaces.

What is Certification Nation Day?

Certification Nation Day is an annual day of recognition for Great Place to Work-Certified organizations.

As Great Place to Work explains on its website, Certification Nation Day is an opportunity to celebrate remarkable company cultures. Organizations across all industries use Certification Nation Day to demonstrate their employee-centric environments attract top job candidates.

What’s more, Certification Nation Day is a time to recognize and inspire all the hard-working team members who help build a first-class culture.

What makes Tanium a uniquely great place to work?

For many companies today, culture is a pain point. For example, the latest research from Gallup reveals just two in 10 employees in the U.S. feel connected to their company’s culture. As a result, many talented workers are actively exploring new opportunities instead of committing to their current organizations. One in three employers anticipate higher turnover in 2024.

But for Tanium, work environment and culture are major strengths that contribute to our overall success as a leading global cybersecurity provider. Simply put, we look after our people. Each day, we do what we can to ensure our team members come to work feeling energized and passionate about solving cybersecurity challenges.

Here are some of the top reasons why Tanium is a unique place to work, according to Tanium Chief People Officer Tobias Julén.

Delivering mission-critical security

Organizations today face an ever-expanding threat surface. At the same time, threat actors are leveraging artificial intelligence to launch sophisticated attacks at scale. In a recent report, 75% of businesses claim security is an increasing priority – a trend that’s bound to accelerate.

Tanium provides global organizations with the real-time visibility and control they need to stay ahead of adversaries. Team members therefore have an opportunity to help make the world a safer and more secure place and contribute to high-value, mission-critical projects. A mission this critical results in a passionate, results-oriented, and laser-focused workforce.

“Tanium protects people, defends data, and secures systems behind the critical infrastructure and services that make up the backbone of our global economy and society,” Julén says. “We can only accomplish an important mission like this with ground-breaking technology and the best talent in the industry.”

Positioning workers for success

The cybersecurity landscape changes by day, which means team members need instant access to insights and resources. Tanium goes above and beyond to make sure they receive proper training and support at every turn.

“A mission as critical as ours inspires our top talent to do the best work of their career, and it’s our job to create an environment where they have the tools they need to make a true impact,” adds Julén.

This includes:

  • A world-class new-hire onboarding program
  • Ongoing technical and skill-based training for our customer-facing teams
  • A Tanium certification program for team members, partners, and customers
  • Professional skills-building courses for all team members
  • Leader development curricula Prioritizing team members

People today expect access to modern, flexible work environments. Tanium is continuously gathering feedback from team members and evolving to meet their changing needs. For example, Tanium supports team members with virtual and in-person engagement events and people-first benefits.

“We want team members to come to work to contribute towards our success, while still retaining a work-life balance so they can make ample time for the things that matter to them,” Julén explains.

Tanium team members receive access to the following benefits:

  • Uncapped paid time off
  • Generous global parental leave policies
  • Equity refreshes
  • Great offices with food and beverage services.

What team members are saying about Tanium

Tanium’s commitment to building top workplace is paying off. In fact, 88% of team members say Tanium is a great place to work compared to just 57% of employees at a typical U.S.-based company.

According to Great Place to Work, at Tanium:

  • 99% of people are treated fairly regardless of their race or ethnic origin.
  • 99% are treated fairly regardless of their sexual orientation.
  • 97% say Tanium is a physically safe place to work.
  • 97% report they are able to take time off from work when they think it’s necessary.
  • 96% claim that when you join the organization, you are made to feel welcome.

Here is a snapshot of what team members have to say about life at Tanium.

Tanium team members have your back

According to Tanium Talent Acquisition Director Susanna Zens, team members at Tanium are crystal clear on their priorities – and they don’t let each other fail.

“When I check in with new team members after they’ve joined, a common thing they share is that they’ve been surprised by the degree to which people have each other’s backs at Tanium,” says Zens.

Krakow Office Manager Dominika Byś-Gałązka also commented on the company’s supportive and inclusive environment.

“Every day, I witness how everyone goes the extra mile to ensure that each person feels valued and that their work is made easier,” says Byś-Gałązka. “It’s this dedication to fostering a positive workplace culture that truly makes Tanium a great place to thrive.”

Byś-Gałązka pointed to a recent example where team members wrote appreciation notes on post-it cards for their colleagues.

“This small, yet powerful, gesture has fostered a culture of recognition and support,” Byś-Gałązka adds. “Even more it strengthened relationships among team members. It’s heartwarming to see how these simple acts of kindness can make a big difference and make someone else’s day better. “

Tanium benefits are second to none

At a time when many companies are scaling back benefits to cut costs, Tanium remains committed to its team members. Folks at Tanium have access to a powerful benefits package and unique perks to support and ensure long-term medical and financial health.

“Tanium takes a very thoughtful approach to doing the right thing for their customers, partners, and team members,” says Senior Manager of People Programs and Experience Sarah Glickman. “When it comes to our team members, the benefits offered are exceptional. Tanium ensures their team members have the resources they need to support them both personally and professionally.”

Tanium provides a flexible work policy

Tanium has always adapted to the needs of its team members: implementing a remote-first policy following the outbreak of COVID-19, safely re-opening offices when it was possible, and now, implementing a flexible work policy where team members work from home and in the office to reap the benefits of both.

“That allows team members to have more control over their schedules and shows that Tanium has a huge commitment to prioritizing the well-being and work-life balance,” adds Byś-Gałązka. “I think it says a lot about the company and its values when they care about the importance of supporting team members’ needs beyond the workplace.”

According to Senior Director of Field Sales Enablement Mark Gee, Tanium consistently prioritizes the well-being of its people.

“Our embrace accommodating of a hybrid model underscores our dedication to flexibility, team member preferences to work from wherever they feel most productive, whilst still nurturing our vibrant office culture,” says Gee

Tanium cares about community

In addition to helping its own team members, Tanium is also known for extending a helping hand to the local community.

Tanium’s Social Impact program includes giving partners committed to creating equitable access to STEM education, an annual Global Month of Giving program that provides in-person, virtual, and self-directed giving opportunities, paid Volunteering Time Off, and more to harness our collective unstoppable spirit to give back to causes we are most passionate about.

One example is a local charity called Suit & Booted, where Tanium Technical Account Management Director Paul Ferguson and other U.K.-based team members volunteer their time.

“We help unemployed, vulnerable, and low-income men be interview-ready by kitting them out in a smart business outfit,” Ferguson says. “Seeing their reaction to their outfits and knowing the impact it has makes it all worthwhile.”

Why Tanium?

From its inception, Tanium has prided itself on building a foundation where team members can “perform like stars”, as Co-Founder and Chairman Emeritus David Hindawi says.

For us, this means cutting-edge technology, best-in-class talent, comprehensive benefits for teams and their families, superb enablement, people-first programs, and more – all built to provide a company culture for our team members to harness our values, do the best work of their career, and maintain Tanium as a truly great place to work.
