The TSA’s recent security directive “Pipeline-2021–01” requires critical pipeline systems and facilities to take specific critical steps to enhance pipeline cybersecurity. This was issued in direct response to the swath of ransomware and cyberattacks in 2021 on pipelines and other critical infrastructure. And while this security directive was directed only at pipelines, other critical infrastructure organizations should take notice, realizing it’s only a matter of time until they are subject to the same kinds of requirements.
