New Episode: Ethical AI – How (and How Much) We Can Rely On It

AI founder, philosopher, and designer Josh Bachynski discusses first-mover advantage and why young people should be “playing with AI like crazy.”

Perspective

Here’s a taste of the episode:

With his background in psychology and philosophy, Josh Bachynski finds AI chatbots fascinating, as they reflect everything humans have put on the internet: “You can talk to humanity,” he tells Tanium’s Doug Thompson in the latest episode of the award-winning podcast Let’s Converge. “You can talk to the crystallized wisdom of crowds that’s been statistically encoded in this ‘transformer’ that transforms text to math to text, through ChatGPT or through Google Gemini.”

One of the first to beta-test the original ChatGPT a few years ago, he says he put hundreds of megabytes into it, told it what ethics is, learned how to “whisper” to it to get the best answers. Gaining that proficiency takes practice, he acknowledges, and enterprise leaders will want to have good AI governance structures in place to keep their brand, staff, and customers protected as they learn to master this game-changing tool. But over time, as more users master that skill and make AI “think” more, he predicts these tools will become more self-aware — while they transform the workplace, and society.

The future of IT and security is autonomous. Learn how automation partners seamlessly with AI to save your enterprise time and money.

“Pick an industry – it’s going to radically change,” he predicts. “The more blue-collar it is, the easier to produce, the more money behind it – mostly [AI will be] there. The more you shift into management and strategy roles … that’ll be humans aided by AI.”

“And that’s the way it should be,” agrees co-host Thompson, who is chief education architect at Tanium (which owns this magazine). “It should be aided by. It shouldn’t be replaced by it.”
